Plant Expansion Project

Iowa Premium Pork offers a variety of the highest quality pork cuts.Premium Iowa Pork has made a decision to become more aggressive in the custom kill arena.  We are in the process of installing several new key pieces of equipment that will improve product quality for both our custom kill customers as well as our own.

We are installing a new livestock handling system that has been designed by Temple Grandin.  This new system will help reduce stress and promote better meat quality.  Our most extensive improvement will be the Banss Steam Scald System which will be the first of its kind in the United States.    The key reasons being:  optimum hygiene scalding, no reoccurrence of contaminated carcasses, consistent carcass quality, and energy savings.

The kill floor will have a daily capacity of up to 200 head an hour when the system is installed.  We added a new Quick Chill to aid in better yields and optimum meat quality.  The cut floor has been redesigned to give us better efficiencies and to reduce labor.  We have a capacity of breaking up to 200 head an hour.  We have also added a new cryovac machine, a Koch ultravac 3500, and a Koch ultrashrink 3012.  This helps us give our customers a more eye appealing product. 

We have added a 3,280 square foot addition in our shipping department in conjunction with the shipping addition we have added a new computerized bar code system that allows us to better track product.  We are now able to track inventory, segregate product, and be more efficient.  We have added 4 new load out docks to allow for faster loading for our customers and truck lines.
